Check out Mixed Media Monthly challenge #25 it is a second year celebration and has multiple themes to pick from.
I have created a layout with texture and dimension, not super high dimension but dimension achieved through lots and lots of layers.
For this one a worked off the edge of the page, so it wouldn't fit into a page sleeve but could hang on a wall. The mint color was added as an after thought but i am sure glad i did, definitely needed a little pop.
I in totally in love with creating a background then adding layer after layer.
I started with layering my papers together with clusters in behind to create the layout base page. Next mix rust mica powder with modelling paste and applied through a stencil (harlequinn, and rings). Next i mixed alchemy paint steampunk copper with modelling paste applied through stencil (screen)
With a paint brush i applied color around texture bits- Lindy's Golden Doubloons.
While the gold spray was still wet i applied the red, this way it blends into gold. For the red i used lindy's cattail copper brown, mixed with water and applied with a paint brush. The final splash of color is lindy's treasure island aqua splattered on. This is my favorite color and it is almost empty. sad face sad face.
Once all the background color was added i layered on picture with ephemera. Some it cut out from the silhouette and some was printed then fuzzy cut.
Final steps add all the texture cardstock and chipboard. I painted the compass and tulip with gold arcylic paint, allow them to dry then lightly sand. Finally ink with distress ink, the ink will settle into the sanded areas but wipe off the paint. The other pieces skeleton clock, and cogs with painted with vintage mint primary elements by ColourArte. Love this color.
The close ups
outlined the photo, texture and cardstock clock with black water color pencil to make them stand out more.
The photo cluster.
