Only Time Will Tell

Today's challenge is from Mixed Media Place
The mood board- I see soft romantic warm colors.

My take- I used 7 Dots Studio Dreamscapes I love the die cuts you get with the paper pack.  The picture is another old family photo the little boy (Shorty I believe) looks so cute the hair, shorts love how children were dressed back in the day.

Just a background tutorial today.  I wanted a very grungy background, first i covered the whole sheet of vanilla cardstock with clear gesso. The clear gesso prevents the color spray from drying too quickly.   I started with splattering lindy's Pirate's Plunder Gold, Van Dyke Sepia, and Crow's Nest Copper onto background.  Spritz with water to blend colors and blur edges.  Next sprinkle on salt I used a lot.

Dry completely, then wipe off all salt.  It looks like I have used some texture underneath but NOOOO the salt has created variations in color making highlights and shadows.  I think it actually looks like concrete cement.

Added all my paper layers and die cuts, inking the edges.  Around die cuts I outlined edges with charcoal and smeared with my finger tip.  I doodled around some of the color splats with a black gel pen.

I used Corner Scribble and Skeleton Leaves chipboard available at my etsy store BoozyBear.  First covered with white crackle paint, next colored with alchemy blue gold opal paint with my fingertips.  Once dry ink chipboard make sure to  rub into the cracks, use a wet wipe to remove ink from top of chipboard but leaving in cracks to highlight cracks.

Around an accent circle is scribble chipboard  underneath accent circle I ripped up and distressed cheesecloth colored with Primary Elements- chestnut brown and vintage mint.  I added natural sisal around top of scribble frame brushed on some gel medium then sprinkled with microbeads.(I did this around the picture frame as well).  I cut two slits in accent circle and threaded metal arrow through.

Some paper die cuts layered in between paper layers.  Here you can see the cracks on chipboard Corner Scribble, and also the colored cheesecloth behind.

Add the title, first i glue onto a piece of chipboard, cut out then inked around the edges.  Raises it up a little.

Splatter around picture and accent frame with watered down alchemy rose gold opal paint, and white acrylic paint.  Look at the happy little boy!!
