full view of completed project. I started with digging through my stash for anything steampunky, gears, pipes, glass etc... Next i picked my paper as always i go for blue tones and my marine pattern paper from 7 gypsies was perfect.
for this section i used 2 blocks that i glued together, i then cut off an inch of the block walls, i did this with two sections at different levels so i could make bigger tray inserts. Once cut i glued into curio box backwards.
pocket watch with button for background, added gears and spinners to front. I painted a butterfly ephemera with distress ink using a water pen, cut in half and added to back of pocket watch.
this took me several tries to make something i actually liked enough to glue in. I used a large large marble and wound wire around marble. I had chipboard circles that i painted, cut and glued on outside of wire marble to create a funky globe. The stand is made with wooden spool, gears and compass.
i used pipe chipboard painted gold with distress paint, (allow to dry then sand and ink to get a distress look) i finished with metal tap, and faucet.
my favorite block, i used a dome bottle, with gears threaded on to wire glued into the cork. What really makes this pop is the rub on added onto the bottle and the coiled wire cord.
wow, absolutly gorgeous with many great steampunk details!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenge. Hugs, Kerstin
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great and wonderful steampunk work with this curio box. It's really fantastic what you have achieved with the pocket watch, the globe and the dome. I just LOVE them - and the piping too.
