All about LOVE

This month at Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is all about LOVE!
Here is the Inspiration Photo

I found this one challenging I don't usually do red, or hearts.

So i got hearts and red...ish but of course added some grunge.

I used Angle Angst chipboard for the background, this was painted with white acrylic paint, and patina paste, then splattered with Lindy's Kissin Kenickie Coral.

I cut out hearts with the silhouette then stitched on the background cardstock.

 I created the heart circle cluster with Projector chipboard then some pieces from monaco and eyepiece chipboard and some gears.

Made texture clusters with art stone, large, medium and small.

I sprinkled with gold embossing enamel, heat from the underside then you don't need embossing ink.  I covered the background with clear gesso before i add Lindy's color sprays.

Blue Mood Board

This month at Mixed Media Place  the moodboard is very blue!

All blue and chilly which is perfect, I created these on a weekend when it was -40

I started with 3"x4" chipboard cards glued on a chipboard compass.  Once dry paint with white gesso.

Next paint with blue acrylic paint, I used white and Impasto Jade and Azure.  Make sure you get into all the nooks and crannies. Dry.  Next make a lighter tint of blue then dry brush on, makes it look grainy.

Lightly sand ATC, then ink.  The ink settles into the sanded portion and wipes off the painted areas.  Ink the whole ATC with embossing ink and emboss with clear powder.  I like to tap off some embossing powder before I heat set.

Wipe on Art Deco English red oxide then wipe off excess.  The spots where the clear embossing powder was tapped off, the red paint settles in and it looks like stucco.

Final step!! Paint on yellow oxide in the grooves, ends up looking like rusty old metal.  FUN FUN

Here is the final project, funky metal steampunk feel.  These were really fun to make and love how they turned out.

Frilly and Funkie- Ribcages

This month at Frilly and Funkie the challenge is "Three is not a crowd"
Create a vintage or shabby chic project that includes three of something. Examples of three of something could be three different patterned papers, three colours, three layers, three flowers, three bows - the list goes on. This would be a perfect time to use some of the new supplies you received for Christmas or to make space in your stash by using up old supplies. Just remember to think in multiples of three.

Here is where i go with funkie my group of three is RIBCAGES.  I love ribcages not sure why but there you go.  I started with chipboard cards 3.5"x5"...

Here is a ribcage viewed from the back so you also get the shoulder blade.  Glue chipboard onto card, paint with white gesso this seals the edges around chipboard, next paint with light lime (the color is hard to see in this pic) acrylic paint, finally dry brush with a dakrer lime.  Next I sanded card, ink with vintage photo ink the ink will settle into the sanded portions, embossed the whole card with clear embossing powder, dust off some so you get a pebbled look in areas.  Almost there...  paint entire card with Art Deco antiquing paint brown- wipe off excess, the brown settles in where the embossing powder is pebbled.  Finally paint with patina green antiquing cream wipe off excess- the final look is old and worn.

I created 4 of these cards, once the base card where done embellish with chipboard, metals, and photos.  I used the following chipboard pieces all available on my etsy store BoozyBear

On this ribcage i cut up the ribs and folded them over like the ribs have been busted open.  This ribcage has been embossed with Stampendous Aged Taupe embossing enamel. Underneath is chipboard gears and mechanicals like a machine.

I found this metal rib cage embellishment at Treasured Memories they always have fun accessories.  Added a wing to chipboard ribcage/back this is embossed with Stampendous Aged Marine embossing enamel- this color is FAB.

I positioned the wing at an angle to make it look like it is flapping- I used 3D matte gel.  This stuff works great for mixed media projects adheres dimensional items together way better than glue and I don't have to hold til it dries which works perfectly since I am impatience.

So usually I would have added photos into the whole complete hexagons but instead created a jagged edge of hexagon texture and added the photo underneath here.  The whole hexagons are painted.  Glossy accents covered the photo (super thick layer) makes it shiny and look like an epoxy embellishment.

This was a fun project, I made another one in blue tones (that's for next weeks reveal) once they were completed I put in a couple frames I have been wondering what to do with.

Mini Album

So i saw this on facebook, then followed to her blog Karolina Bukowska

FAB right?  and I thought I can do that so I created one of my own.

Here is the cover, lots of my left over goodies and paper.  I am not completely happy with my album it needs to have a little more hinge room once all the papers and goodies are in it doesn't close properly.  Now if you have every met me it drives me crazy when things don't close properly.

I am a little obessed with my patina paste right at the moment so of course that was used.

Fragments with rub ons, on top I love fragments!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #44

It's a new year and a new challenge this month's challenge is "Ring in the New" so have a "new" component like color, medium, or technique it just needs to be new to you.  Here is the graphic

I used some new chipboard, new skeleton leaves, and new primary elements.

I started with pattern paper, glue on burlap, ripped up cardboard and chipboard crank.  I added clusters of art stones, and mini art stones glued down with gel medium.

Art stone clusters, they don't look that good right now but just you wait...

I added some more chipboard pieces then painted the entire collage with brown rust paste.  I like the texture in the rust paste and how it dries matte and dark.  I don't like harsh edges created by paint so i blend and fade with a baby wipe.  Once rust paste is dry sprinkle on primary elements Vintage Mint, Mediterranean blue and Chestnut Brown spray with water to activate- adds twinkle.

Go over with green patina paint just in random spots not all over.

Next I rubbed on some blue patina paste, I added some brown paste back on top it was a little too green and blue.

Next rub alchemy gold wax on entire collage, it highlights all the wonderful texture and art stone clusters.  I painted equation chipboard with delphinium blue Lindy's, the shimmer is really noticable on the dark background.  I colored the cheesecloth with chestnut brown, mediterranean blue, and vintage mint dry completely then paint with sculpture medium to shape in center of page.  Water down some white acrylic paint and splatter onto collage.

Here is the final cover, I created a projection lenses with chipboard and 2" plastic lenses.  As the cover processes I add more color- it is always a working piece of art.

The centerpiece is made with skeleton leaves, cheesecloth and transparent wings.  I added little drops of glossy accents onto skeleton leaves to look like waterdrops.

So many layers and texture- my favorite things.

The dark background of brown rust paste on chipboard letters makes the perfect base for Lindy's shimmer spray.  I painted on Delphinium Blue with a paint brush, the dark background really makes the shimmer pop.  I added some post hitches then wrapped twine around just a fun little accent.

Really love the green and blue patina paste, the Lindy's on the chipboard doesn't settle into the wax but the final effect turned out fantastic with only blue along the bottom of letters.

I love the ridges from ripped cardstock. The art stones clusters look completely different now all those lovely nooks and crannies.

Missing in Action

So i have been missing in action for the month of December, it has been a busy month and my creative juices were non-existance.  But i had no choice it was time to create I have a class coming up on January 27, 2018 and it was barely started.  So here is my favorite page

I am obsessed with texture of late I used ripped cardboard, burlap, art stones, mini art stones, chipboard, modeling paste and crackle paste.

I used patina paste and rust paste to paint background then added sprakle with lindy's sprays and primary elements pigment powder.  Originally I used mostly patina and rust paste but I didn't like how dark and matte it was so I added a little twinkle!

the top layer is gold alchemy wax it highlights all that wonderful texture, I just rub on with my fingertips.

The art stones are fantastic, you get some many colors/ highlights/ shadows in the all the nooks and crannies

I used skeleton leaves and sisal this is as frilly as i get. 

I am making an album with three sketchbooks inside this is a cover of one of the sketchbooks.
