Winter Sunlight

NEW TAG!!!- I live in northern Alberta Canada and it is cold, in fact this past month has been super cold -20 to -40 celicus with the wind chill.  Too cold to go outside especially when i hate winter to begin with, my crazy husband loves winter, loves it more than summer- what the hell is wrong with him?  But the great thing about Alberta is no matter how cold it is the sun is out - bright and shiny.  Here is me paying respect to my home in winter

 use Tim Holtz ray layering stencil, inked with squeezed lemonade and wild honey distress ink.  i used the wild honey on the outside the ray and blending into the lighter/brighter squeezed lemonade.  gives it dimension (this is what i say about my hair when the roots are growing out)

 emboss with clear emboss powder, the beauty of distress ink, it also acts as embossing ink!!

 swipe splat mat with blue ink (stormy sky and iced spruce)  sptiz with water to make liquid

 run tag through ink on splat mat.  since the rays are clear embossed they can't be colored

heat to dry and repeat until you get the color of blue you want

 ink outside edge with iced spruce and just edges with walnut

pierce along outside of all the rays and stitch with twine

 BOOM- love the stitching

added the title along the outside

i didn't add a ton of embellisments because i loved how the texture background turned out.  Added a clutter with lightbulb
3-D and kraft paper in center of rays date and temp.  Finally bolts in the corners because there is never enough metal.

365 days of possibilities tag

here is my first post of the new year- new year tag
finished project

here are the steps

Step 1- paint tag with weathered wood distress paint, paint twice and allow to dry

Step 2- use a harlequin stencil paint with a black dabber

Step 3- distress edges of tag and ink with a combination of vintage photo, walnut and black soot- also ink on the body of the tag

Step 4- use glossy accents to cover harlequin with- allow to dry

Step 5- use two apothecary bottles the same size fill one with stampendous embossing enamel and push cork in as deep as possible.  Add a little embossing enamel to the other leave out the cork.  glue the corked bottled on the top of the other bottle.

Step 6- use washi tape to double attach the two bottles

Step 7- glue onto dry tag

Step 8- rip a piece of corrugated cardstock, ink edges and glue along bottom of tag

Step 9- paint art parts pocket watch with black paint dabber

Step 10- add clock in center (part of my embellishment stockpile) finished with spinner

Step 11- add metal gears on the clock frame.  Use ring fasteners to thread twine across hourglass, and insert an eyelet at bottom of tag corner, thread multiple times around eyelet and tie.

Step 12- cut a banner tag, distress edges and ink then attached to top of tag with staples

Step 13- add 365 to top tag, use labeller to make bands for "days of" and "possibilities"  attach with staples.
BOOM done!

Merry Christmas

So it is Christmas night the presents have been opened, the dinner has been ate and now i have the need to craft but my craft room looks so clean since i have company coming.

 my craft room is never this clean and it is screaming "mess me up" but i won't but i really want to.  Instead this is what i worked on

 Lego winter Christmas house.  The house is about half built and the rest is tomorrows project.

But the last three days have been full of crafting since i of course left all my projects that were Christmas presents to the last minute.  9- 12x12 pages. Here is a sample

and the close up of the flames.  Chipboard flames that i inked with distress ink, blue, orange and red, then covered with glossy accents.  Really makes the color pop and has the added bonus of blending the color.

 next page i used a pattern paper i had and cut out arrows and arrows and layered them on the page rotating directions and adding wood chevron shapes.

close up of twine, i love twine like to add it to all my layouts.  Here i used the tim holtz brads with hoops on the end ( i don't know what they are called)  then connected them with twine.  i like it a nice little accent.

and finally this layout is a 3-D one i created for my frames at home- but of course i will probably never put them in but i always have good intentions.

created the background chevron, ripped and distressed the edges of the background sheet, then ripped a slit on top and added the rub ons in behind.  I like to add a ton of embellishments to my page, and those always have to include, metal, chipboard, and twine.  Here i created made a border around the picture and then added clutters on the corners.
