Scrap your Stash

Sketch challenge over at Scrap Our Stash

I decided i wanted to use washi tape as the stripes in the background.  Lately my layouts are about creating a background and I have been playing with mica powder by Prima, Finnabair art ingredients.  And continued to do so with this layout.

I started with vanilla cardstock and added harlequin pattern with modeling paste and stencil.

Added copper paint on modeling paste pattern, dry brushed along edges.  So there are no harsh edges.

Dry brushed on black paint then added the mica powder, used purple, rust and teal.  Next I inked vintage photo distress ink over top and added some more mica powder.  Sprayed with water to get drips and blending.

Highlighted the harlequin pattern with white paint, not a complete solid white.

Repeated above steps on top pattern,  how fun is that?

The final layout, added green and blue along edges and layered on top of pattern paper.  Next layered with washi tape, rub ons, chipboard and journalling tags.  The final step is doddling, my new favorite thing.

I kept the embellishments to a min.  since the background is so much.

Enjoy!

Fall in is the COLORS

November challenge for Lindy's Stamp Gang is all about fall colors.

For this color challenge i used
Starburst Ponderosa Pines Olive
Starburst Mission Belles Brown
Flat Fabio Tears on My Pillow Tangerine
Starburst California Poppy Gold

Here is my take
 The final tag, super girly.

i started by adding washi tape onto tag, then added some gesso, and also translucent embossing paste.  I wanted to see how Lindy's sprays settled into different medias.

Next i added some modeling paste applied with a stencil.  Dry

Added the sprays, the color settled into the tag and into the modeling paste but not into the gesso or translucent paste as much.

I painted the modeling paste pattern with brown distress paint, then doddled around with a white pen.  I fuzzy cut out of flowers and butterflies, added onto the tag with pop up dots for dimensions.

Finished with embellishments. Of course metal.

Anything Goes- Steampunk Industrial

Another challenge at SanDee's And Amelie's Steampunk Challenges- my favorite challenge site.  If you read my blog you know i love steampunk!!!!  Here is my steampunk phone I created it with chipboard, cardstock, straws, and funky embellishments- what every i could get my hands on.

I started with box made from chipboard, i did make a cut out from the bottom so it was more dimensional.  I brought craft foam at the dollar store, did you know you could get it 0.25" thick???  and it is super easy to cut.  I used the craft foam to add panels and rotary dial.  I cut gears out of cardstock from my silhouette and layered onto frame.

Straws are my new go to, once painted they look like piping.  My friend has these FAB bendy straws with extra long bendy coils, makes them fun to manipulate.
Add some wire that I twirled around a pencil.  Next added some metal embellishments
Then the top of the phone, i wanted to create bells like on an old phone so i cut a foam ball in half and glued onto top.  Finished with more twirled wire, glass domes and light bulbs.

Now the magic- i painted the whole piece black.  Next added metallic finish by dry brushing on gold metallic paint.  While the paint is still damp i added more color with Finnabair mica ingredients.  Ahhh i love it when a plan comes together.

Next some close ups.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Yes I am a winner also a fan of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

My bold bright tag has one the color challenge over at
Lindy Stamp Gang.  Let the shopping begin.

Here are some other tags i worked on this weekend.  I was at a crop in Camrose at Bittern Lake Lodge, it was fantastic.  Four days, no cooking, sleeping til 10, laughter and friendship and of course a little scrapbooking.

Pastel beauty- pattern paper tag, with chipboard colored with gesso then gelatos, add texture with modelling paste and stencil also colored with gelatos.  Then layer layer layer.

Background texture and lightbulb is my design chipboard.

This one i colored with dylusions, love how the color stays true.  I added harequinn pattern with a stencil and modelling paste then painted.  It is time consuming to hand paint but sometimes its just what a person needs and quite relaxing.

New chipboard design birdcage collage.

This one i love the color combination ombre effect.  The center piece is one of my chipboard designs.  The piping you ask- bendy straws!!  I glue everything onto the tag and it looks like nothing but junk- then the magic.  I paint the whole piece with gesso then add color with paint - Dana wakley thick acrylic paint.  Highlight with paint- black, white and copper.  It needs something but not sure what.

And the best for last- again add all pieces onto tag and paint with gesso.  This one i painted with copper paint then highlighted with black paint and mica ingredients- Prima / Finnabair.  I love how this one turned out it had a halloween feel so i added the white rubons and doddling.  Has a real metallic patina look.
